Description:
Characters is a visual study of identity, emotion, and the quiet complexity of being human. Each illustration moves beyond portraiture, offering a glimpse into a private world shaped by memory, feeling, and imagination.
These figures are made to feel lived in. Subtle choices—posture, gaze, gestures, clothing—reveal an inner life, hinting at stories beneath the surface. I focused on emotional residue: the feeling behind a glance, the tension in a hand. The goal was presence, not motion.
I wanted to move past surface beauty and capture honesty. Expression, lighting, and posture work together to suggest mood and history. Each color palette supports the emotional tone—whether warmth, melancholy, or vulnerability.
Some characters feel familiar. Others remain unknowable. That tension invites personal connection. The series asks viewers to pause, reflect, and feel—rather than follow a fixed narrative.
At its core, Characters is about what we show and what we hide. It honors our private, interior lives—complex, imperfect, and deeply alive.
I hope this work opens a space where identity feels fluid and empathy becomes the bridge. These characters are quiet reminders that beneath the surface, we all carry something deeply human.
Silvia’s art direction elevated the entire project. Her keen eye for detail and deep understanding of narrative helped shape characters that truly connect with viewers on an emotional level.
